The Diorama That Made Me Known – And Earned Me a Funny Nickname! 🌿🚙🌊
This is the diorama that helped me make a name for myself in the Vietnamese diorama community and introduced my work to friends around the world.
To be honest, it’s still far from perfect. The original layout was inspired by the amazing work of @Art Beruang, with a few changes and personal touches of my own.
But what I’m most proud of is definitely the water effects! 🌊
Even I couldn’t believe how beautifully they turned out. Seeing the realistic ripples and water movement around the Land Rovers was such an amazing feeling.
Here’s a little story you probably don’t know! 😆
This was actually my second attempt at creating this scene.
The first version went terribly wrong because I poured way too much epoxy resin. The water ended up almost completely covering the hood of the Land Rover! It just didn’t look realistic to me, so I decided to start over and create this version instead.
And yes… that meant spending more money to buy another model car! 😂
But looking back, it was absolutely worth it.
After I shared this diorama, I became known in Vietnam’s 1/64 scale model community for creating the illusion of vehicles actually driving through water.
People really loved the effect, and that’s also how I earned a rather funny nickname:
“The Guy Who Destroys Model Cars Without Mercy!” 😂🚙💦
Haha! I guess that’s what happens when you’re willing to sacrifice a few beautiful model cars to create realistic off-road scenes!
This diorama will always be special to me. Not because it’s perfect, but because it marked an important turning point in my journey as a diorama artist.
