Every creative journey has a beginning, and this handmade off-road diorama holds a special place in mine.
This is one of my earliest 30 × 20 cm diorama designs, a piece that helped lay the foundation for what would eventually become MINH BAO DIORAMA.
Looking back at this creation reminds me of the excitement, challenges, and passion that inspired me to start building miniature landscapes.
A Small Landscape with a Big Meaning
Inspired by my love for nature, forests, and off-road adventures, I wanted to recreate a peaceful moment of exploration in miniature form.
The diorama features a winding dirt road running alongside a shallow stream, surrounded by natural-looking grass, rocks, dense green bushes, and two tall trees standing above the landscape.
Two 1:64 scale off-road vehicles bring the scene to life, creating the feeling of a small expedition traveling through a quiet wilderness.
Although the entire landscape measures just 30 × 20 cm, every detail was carefully arranged to create a sense of depth, balance, and realism.
Bringing Nature into Miniature Form
One of my favorite parts of creating dioramas is experimenting with natural textures.
For this project, I focused on several important elements:
- A realistic shallow stream: Small stones, natural colors, and a reflective water surface help recreate the appearance of a peaceful forest stream.
- A winding off-road trail: The sandy dirt road adds movement to the composition and provides space for miniature adventure vehicles.
- Handcrafted trees and vegetation: Different shades of green create a more natural forest atmosphere.
- A rocky hillside: Layers of rocks, bushes, and greenery add depth without overwhelming the small display.
- A compact display design: The 30 × 20 cm footprint makes it suitable for a desk, shelf, or personal diecast car collection.
Each element contributes to a miniature environment that feels like a small piece of the outdoors.
More Than Just a Diorama
For me, this project represents much more than a handmade miniature landscape.
It was part of the learning process that helped me develop my own creative direction, from shaping terrain and building trees to experimenting with water effects and arranging realistic scenery.
Not everything was perfect, and there were many techniques I still needed to improve. But every project taught me something valuable.
Over time, those small lessons helped shape the craftsmanship, attention to detail, and nature-inspired style that I continue to pursue today.
The Beginning of MINH BAO DIORAMA
When I look at this early creation, I can see how far my journey has come.
My techniques have evolved, my designs have become more detailed, and my understanding of miniature landscapes continues to grow.
But one thing has never changed: my love for creating tiny worlds inspired by the beauty of nature and the spirit of off-road adventure.
This 30 × 20 cm diorama will always remind me of where it all began.
